Dark Side of the Canals Tour

Duration:
2.5 hours including check-in, gear distribution, safety talk, and boat loading.

Experience Level:
Some experience is strongly recommended as the majority of the paddle is after dark. A warm layer or windbreaker and waterproof gloves are recommended on a chilly day.

Schedule:
Available in September and October only.

Overview:
On this tour we’ll depart from Detroit River Sports around dusk and return after dark. All boats are lit up with safety lights and colorful string lights to set the campfire storytelling mood. You will hear of indigenous legends and folklore, tales of tragedy and misfortune, a curse, a risque haunting and some spooky Detroit staple’s.

Weight Limit:
250 lbs. per passenger

Requirements:
Children under the age of 12 must be in a tandem kayak with an adult. All participants must wear a Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) while on a Detroit River Sports Tour (we provide them, don’t worry!), this is for your safety and the safety of our staff.
